China benefited from government subsidies, China could become the world’s largest consumer market for electric vehicles. However, in the hybrid vehicle segments, China still can not catch up with the United States.

Recently, the Chinese government announced in 2020, the Chinese government will invest $ 14.7 billion for the promotion of new energy vehicle development. Among them, most of the funds will be used to promote the development of pure electric vehicles. The Chinese government hopes that by 2020, China will have five million domestic electric vehicles in use.

Compared with the US government, the Chinese government this can be described as big spenders. The American government has promised, in the next few years, the US government will invest more than $ 2.5 billion for the promotion of new energy vehicles, including electric vehicle batteries beneficiaries manufacturers, consumers, and electric vehicles supporting facilities builders. But funding from the US government can never catch up with the Chinese government, besides the US government can not subsidize each sum will "bear fruit."

Compared with the United States, the ability of Chinese government to guide its domestic car market is stronger. In addition to providing a large car allowance policy efforts, the Chinese government also has to reduce domestic carbon emissions, increase domestic vehicle production by reducing oil imports to reduce the firm determination of the energy-dependent. Market analysis firm Pike Research predicts that in the period from 2010 to 2015, Chinese market electric vehicles and hybrid sales will reach 1.85 million. Among them, the electric car sales will reach 1 million, while the US market, sales of electric and hybrid vehicles will reach 840,000 and 2.3 million. Therefore, China will overtake the United States as the world’s largest electric car consumer market, but the US will remain the largest hybrid market.

Pike Research also believes that the global electric car market sales will not go beyond hybrid. All along, the United States is a global leader in the hybrid market, while China is only at a preliminary stage hybrid consumption. However, China will surpass the United States in the electric vehicle needs.
